"His Name Shall Be Called... Counsellor"

  • Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
  •

As you may recognize, Is. 9:6 is a prophecy of the Promised Messiah: Jesus Christ. And from Is. 9:6, many various phrases, promises, and titles of Jesus are often quoted and repeated. It seems, though, that we often forget Jesus as the Promised “Counsellor” revealed in this passage.

Jesus is a “Counsellor” with a capital “C”! Just as you can’t have true peace without “The Prince of Peace” in this passage, you can’t have true counsel without the “Counsellor.” Oh, dear reader, why do we seek counsel everywhere but from the Promised Messiah? Remember to never make plans or to never take action unless you have first sought counsel from the Counsellor. This means having specific words from the Cousellor which, of course, comes from the Word of God. And when you seek counsel of men whoever they may be, their counsel is only “true” if their words line up with the Counsellor’s words.
