The followers of Jesus Christ are commanded by Jesus to preach/proclaim the gospel to all people all over the globe. Gospel means good news or glad tidings. When angels, for instance, came to shepherds at night proclaiming the birth of Jesus they mentioned their message as “good tidings”. The word they used for “good tidings” was the word for the gospel.
